From a paper to the class picture.

GradeLine connects the work on the page with the records around it. Its main workflows include:

  • Bring in the work. Import PDFs, images, Word documents, text files, or folders. Match files to students, combine pages, or split a scanned stack into fixed-size packets.
  • Review and annotate. Read the original document in Annotation Studio. Add handwriting, highlights, text, shapes, and feedback marks.
  • Assess with your rubric. Define criteria, performance levels, and points. Choose a level as you review; GradeLine scales the rubric to the assignment total.
  • Keep the class in view. See assignment queues, a gradebook, student records, missing work, completion, and class insights.
  • Bring existing records. Import classes, rosters, and numeric grades from CSV, TSV, Excel .xlsx files, or pasted tables. Preview the column mapping before saving.
  • Keep and share the results. Export annotated work, return to archived assignments, and create local backups.

Works locally. Connects by choice.

Core class organization, document review, annotation, rubric scoring, gradebook, and insights work offline with local data. Built-in Apple Vision text recognition runs on the Mac.

Connected AI grading is optional. It requires provider configuration and explicit approval before sending extracted student text and assignment criteria. Grading requests do not upload original document or image files. Teachers can review and edit the results; provider charges may apply.

Which GradeLine?

GradeLine at gradeline.org is the Mac grading app from Solid Ground Solutions. It is a separate product from Gradelink, the student information system at gradelink.com. The GradeLine name ends in “Line.”

Availability and support.

The Mac App Store release is pending. The planned teacher price is $49.99 as a one-time purchase for one Mac, with no GradeLine subscription. Final pricing and availability may change. District licensing questions can go to the GradeLine team.

GradeLine is presented here as a macOS app. iPhone scanning uses compatible hardware and macOS capture support; it does not mean there is a separate GradeLine iPhone app.
