## Product identity

- Name: GradeLine (ends in “Line”).
- Developer: Solid Ground Solutions.
- Platform: macOS. It is a native desktop app.
- Audience: teachers reviewing and grading student work.
- GradeLine at gradeline.org is a separate product from Gradelink, the student information system at gradelink.com.
- GradeLine does not require a GradeLine account.

## Main workflows

- Import PDFs, images, Word documents, text, and folders. Match work to students, combine pages, or split scanned stacks into fixed-size packets.
- Read and annotate documents in Annotation Studio using handwriting, highlights, text, shapes, and feedback marks.
- Build custom rubrics with criteria, performance levels, and points; choose levels while reviewing work.
- Review assignment queues, gradebook scores, student records, missing work, completion, and class insights.
- Import classes, rosters, and numeric grades using CSV, TSV, Excel .xlsx, or pasted tables. Preview column mapping before saving.
- Export annotated work, revisit archived assignments, and create local backups.

## Local data and optional AI

Core classroom organization, document review, annotation, rubric scoring, gradebook, and insights work offline with local data. Apple Vision text recognition runs locally.

Connected AI grading is optional. It requires a configured provider and explicit approval before sending extracted student text and assignment criteria. Grading requests do not upload original documents or images. Results can be reviewed and edited. Provider charges may apply.

## Availability and pricing

The Mac App Store release is pending. The planned teacher price is $49.99 as a one-time purchase for one Mac, with no GradeLine subscription. Final pricing and availability may change. Contact the team for district licensing.

GradeLine is presented as a macOS app. Compatible iPhone scanning is a macOS capture workflow, not a separate GradeLine iPhone app.
